Joshua is a musician, mentor, and community builder who follows creativity and intuition as guiding forces in life. With decades of experience playing in bands of all styles and sizes, he brings a rich mix of musicality, structure, and soul to the Gentlemen’s Choir. Within each container, Joshua challenges men to stretch their voices, finding notes, rhythms, and forms of expression they may never have explored. In doing so, they often uncover a deeper sense of confidence.

◇ journey to current role ◇

Josh’s musical roots run deep. Starting with watching his dad’s blues and soul band rehearse in the backyard shed, and later inheriting many of those same guitars. At boarding school, music became his lifeline; the guitar gave him identity, confidence, and a place to belong.

He went on to tour the Melbourne music scene for years, performing in bands that danced the line between passion and chaos. After formal study and countless gigs, he took off to travel the world carrying only a guitar case and an open heart.

When Melbourne’s lockdowns brought life to a halt, Josh experienced a deep personal unraveling that opened the door to a more grounded chapter: fatherhood, solo artistry (The Redwoods), and a renewed sense of purpose.

And so, The Gentlemen’s Choir became a natural evolution, a space where his musical skill and inner growth could meet. Today, he brings humour, precision, and creative depth to every rehearsal, helping men explore their voice and the joy he experiences in music and song. He believes in working with devotion, for the sake of transformation.
